I haven't got a clue...

...well, actually I have!

Dear Diary,

Finally, my vintage Clue game arrived!  It is based on the 1949 version of the game and it is the same one we were playing in that old photograph I posted a few days ago.  It has beautiful cast lead weapons, except for the rope with is a real rope!, and they also included tiny pencils.  All the graphics are so classic 1940's.  It comes in a beautiful grey linen case that is meant to go on a book self.  I can't wait to get a few friends to come and play!

Of course, I had to re-read the rules but it all quickly came back to me.  I did learn that it is based on the game Murder developed in London in 1945 to entertain people when they were sheltered in the underground during the Blitz.  A Massachusetts company, Parker Brothers, bought the rights to it and re-named it Clue.  It came out in the states in 1949, the year I was born.

It doesn't happen very often that you can acquire something from your childhood that you actually have a photograph of yourself using!  What fun!  Board games are making a comeback now and I think it is a wonderful thing.  No technology, just a simple game played with friends.  Sometimes the old ways are really better. Imagine a group interacting with each other without a smart phone, actually talking to each other!  Now, that is a really good thing.
