Crocus nevadensis

Although quite widely distributed in Spain this is a rarely grown crocus species.  In nature it grows in dry meadows, pastures, rocky outcrops, and clearings of thickets and forests, from 400 - 2300m, so it's fairly adaptable.  As it rarely increases by corm and rarely sets seed in cultivation, it is not one that I have experimented with in the open garden.  It's proved long lived under cold glass though, I've had this accession for 14 years.

Wheelchair basketball for Jamie this morning.  It was nice to catch up with some of the other parents but Jamie struggled in part due to overheating and associated feelings of disconnection :-(
