Planning

Jon and I woke at 8. We didn’t rush breakfast but had plans to drive to Aylsham to buy sausages in a really nice butchers, plus a walk and mooch around shops. We were there by 10 and managed a coffee and fruit scone each, in one of the many little tea or coffee shops we saw. I bought a dress in one of the charity shops and we were home by 11.45. During our coffee stop we chatted about the house. It is the main topic of conversation when we get time together. We have 99% decided we can’t afford to move, but also we like where we are. The house isn’t big enough, but we are exploring ways that we can grow it. The main thing we have to use is the garage. We neeeeeed another toilet (every time all 5 of us are back together, we are reminded that one just isn’t enough). So when we got home Jon started measuring and then got down to drawing to scale the conversion of half the garage to a cloakroom and a bit of a utility. Our washing machine is already in the garage, so if we can get a hole for a door cut in the dining room wall then we’re nearly there!! We got quite excited. Talking about how it might be, when it is all done got us costing bits and now the plan is done. Although I don’t have a lot of money, I do have a Jon who can do most of it himself. We don’t buy the cheapest unless we think it is adequate, and we will have to pay for the hole to be cut and a lintel put in. We went to Homebase and decided on toilet (cheapest £48) and sink (not cheapest £79). We may go back tomorrow and buy them. It will be the incentive we need. Other plans are to move cabinets in the kitchen. Move them up towards the ceiling to free up worktop space. Once the cloakroom is done we may review the kitchen itself, but that’s for another year. 2018 will be dedicated to getting another loo!

Mollie and I took the dog and the metal detector over to the allotment. Another place that needs us. I need an 8 day week, or at the very least a 3 day weekend. I’ve scheduled it for 2026 (when I’m 60). We found a crushed broken up drinks can in about 5 pieces. Plus one other random bit of metal which we can’t identify. We will do some more over there.

We’ve just watched a really good film called San Andreas. Now it’s The Voice.

Tomorrow I want to do a bit of clearing in the garden.
