Hamilton Gardens......

.....even in winter I was in my element here :)

Hamilton Gardens is described as a botanical garden, but does not technically qualify. Instead, it features 21 gardens representing the art, beliefs, lifestyles and traditions of different civilisations or historical garden styles. The gardens are grouped into the Paradise, Productive, Fantasy, Cultivar and Landscape garden collections. It's like being on an adventure one door or gate leads to another walled open room of such beauty with it's plants and structures. It would be wonderful to visit during all seasons but I imagine the colours would be stunning during spring and summer.

I'll put a few up on flickr later rather than use all my extra's seen as this is a backblip from July 2017.

Hamilton has a number of sculptures. I'm going to try and feature a sculpture per day while we're here, today's sculpture is:

Earth's Blanket
Incorporating the Maori Heritage of the Hamilton Garden's site, this magnificent sculpture is located at the entrance to the Garden's and features an earth blanket, a woven pebble cloak designed to protect and honour Mother Earth.
Sculptures - Chris Booth and Diggeress Te Kanawa (1920-2009)
Materials - Hinuera Stone
Date - 2005

A rather dismal day, showers drifting through with pockets of sun every now and then - my shot is the entrance to the hot house, taken at the end of our day at the Hamilton Gardens, North Island, NZ
