Ghastly gales

A horrible night here with some of the worst gales I’ve experienced on land (I couldn’t live anywhere that got hurricanes). I was woken up at 5 am and it was clear with the amount of noise that I wasn’t going to get any more sleep. So I got up and switched the tv on - kept losing the signal as the aerial was being buffetted. Changed to Freesat and shortly after the power went off briefly. Then the power went off completely for 4 hours and there was no Mobile signal either. Thankfully no trees down though and it passed through in a few hours. The photo is a screen print taken as a record - gusts got to over 70mph locally - Weybourne is the nearest met office weather station.

Be a pretty housewife (1957)

Tip No. 6  It’s a time-saver if you put skin food on your face the minute you get out of bed. It then has time to do its job whilst you are dressing. Wipe off, put on a little powder and lipstick, and you’ll be pretty for the family to see at the breakfast table and remember during the day.
