Another day, another drive.

Today we took Maddy and Leo for a drive in the new car. We went to Orange and then onto Burrendong Dam. It was built in the 1960s across the Macquarie River to store water for irrigation and towns downstream. It is about half full at the moment so there is a lot of ground showing that is usually underwater. its about three times the size of Sydney Harbour and people travel for miles to have access for fishing or water sports such as skiing and sailing. Today we just had lunch of home made cheese, tomato, lettuce and onion sandwiches, a cup of tea and the treat of an ice cream when we left. We gave the kids Coca-Cola - they had never had it before. Wow that's amazing. They are 6 and a half and eight years old.

When we lived at Dubbo we often went there camping with our children. If they were good they got an icecream when we left. It was a great spot for kids, no shops other than a kiosk and we didn't have phone reception ( or even phones) in those days, so simple.

We came through a massive storm on the way home.

I'll put up and extra of the barren but beautiful scrub lands.
