Life in Sunny Dubai

Marina

Another picture from a moving car taken by G, this time as we whiz past Dubai Marina on the way to the Bible Society bookshop in Jebel Ali, on a totally gorgeous day! Sun, clouds, cool breeze... what more could you ask for?

I am feeling much better today, but need to get a different cough syrup now as the expectorant has done its job!

We went to the Salvation Army service in the evening which was nice. I can't believe it is already the end of January and there are only eleven months left of 2018! The most significant news of the day though has to be the super blue blood moon. OMG. I attempted to get a picture but just couldn't, no matter how hard I tried.

So, as it is such a rare occurrence, for my own sake, I am going to record some facts and figures, and maybe even link to a decent good picture of the phenomenon.

Broken down...
Super - the moon is closer to earth than normal, so appears 10% larger
Blue - when you have two full moons in the same calendar month
Blood - A partial lunar eclipse makes the moon look red

The three events happening at the same time is so rare, the last time it occurred was 152 years ago in 1866. Here in Dubai, where we rarely have anything blocking the sun or moon in the sky, today of all days, we had dark clouds going over the moon during the eclipse and as it rose. There you go! There are a few pictures from around the world here.
