Musicians

Today we took fewer photographs as we became ordinary tourists for the day.  We visited some of the major sites of Phnom Penh - the Royal Palace, Wat Phnom temple (where these musicians were performing) and then on to the more disturbing Tuol  Sleng Genocide museum.

Tuol Sleng was a school which was turned into a prison and torture centre by the Khmer Rouge.  17,000 men and women passed through this place, many dying there, the rest being transported to the "killing fields" of Choeung Ek (which we also visited) where they were killed, often by clubbing to death.

It is almost unbelievable how cruel humans can be to their fellow humans.

Hopefully tomorrow we will enjoy some less depressing sights.
