Snowdrop time

We are away for a few days on the North Yorks moors to celebrate daughter Grace's birthday today.

They have to travel all the way from Bristol and it is obviously not so far for us so we decided to go via Fountains Abbey for some lunch and take a walk to enjoy the snowdrops.

It was rather a grey day but dry so we had a pleasant walk. En route we popped into the bird hide. Lots of birds at the feeders including some Cole Tits which we rarely see but the big surprise was a Spotted Woodpecker who seemed to really enjoy the peanuts. I got a half decent picture of him together with a Long Tailed Tit.

We arrived in Goathland within half an hour of Grace, John and Eda. The heating was on to welcome us in the house and we we're soon heading down to the Malayan Spout hotel for a celebration dinner. They were very accommodating of Eda especially as it was quite a bit 'posher' than we expected.

Back to the house, Eda bathed and off to bed, fire lit and then birthday cake.
Hope you've had a Happy Birthday Grace x

Seaside tomorrow we hope.
