Mount Cook

After a lovely breakfast with Rainie & Doug (and more chat about photography and blip, and a look at Rainie's photobook of her time at Lakeland Photo Holidays a year past September), we set off on our motorhome travels. At their excellent suggestion we drove northwest from Timaru, through Pleasant Point (what a nice name!) to Lake Tekapo and on to Lake Pukaki. We'd set off in the rain but by the time we got to the lakes the sky was blue and the views were magnificent. We can't get over the brilliant aquamarine colour of the lakes. From Twizel we took the road to Mount Cook and have stopped for the night at Glentanner on the edge of Lake Pukaki.

The main blip shows Mount Cook photographed from Peter's Point on the way up the west side of Lake Pukaki. The extra shows that we can just see the summit of Mount Cook from our camper van on the campsite.

At 3754 metres Mount Cook is the tallest peak in Australasia. Its Maori name is Aoraki (which means "Cloud Piercer").
