………………….Exposure

A Cabbage Tree in our garden as the wind was increasing with the arrival of ex cyclone Gita.

At 7.20pm this evening the Tasman District Council Mayor declared a state of emergency in the Nelson Tasman regions. This is at the top of the South Island, NZ.

Personally, we are dry and safe, but with all day heavy rain there has been flooding, road closures, and power outages. People have been stranded and evacuated.

Have you ever wondered what the difference was between a Cyclone, a Hurricane and a Typhoon?
I found the following online and it all depends where the storm is based.
In the South Pacific and Indian Oceans, storms like Gita are known as cyclones.
In the Atlantic and northeast Pacific Oceans, they are known as hurricanes.
In the northwest Pacific Ocean, they are known as typhoons.

Who would have thought a fly and its huge eyes would capture so much interest in yesterday's blip! Thank you everyone for the many comments, stars and hearts.
