Autumn Horsechestnut

This seems not to be a good year for conkers, and certainly I've not seen any on the ground under the usual suppliers around our bit of Argyll. I've heard people on the radio discussing the suitability (or otherwise) of avocado stones for a game of conkers, so obviously the shortage is nationwide.

But conker-laden or not, it's a wonderful year for autumn colours. This tree is beside the old road between the Puck's Glen car park and Benmore Gardens.
