Artic Thursday: Shiver

I don't think Artic Thursday is a thing on Blipfoto, but it certainly could be today.

Sadly, our replacement flight to Spain has now also been cancelled.  We weren't terribly surprised.  The weather today was always forecast to be even worse than yesterday.  In the light of which we've accepted with good grace that we are not now going away and have cancelled our arrangements.  Hopefully the travel insurance will help with some of the wasted cost.

In the meantime, its been a good day for staying inside and taking photos of the birdlife in the garden with a suitably long lens.  I've topped up all the feeders and have added a suet mix to one of the feeders to help increase the energy available.... and more energy is definitely what is required, as this little goldfinch all fluffed up by the strong winds attests.   have also broken the ice on the pond to try and help make some water available, although its busy freezing over again.

I had a devil of a job trying to decide which shot to use.  In the end I narrowed it down to just two, and have put in an extra of a robin in the snow as I loved the colour and the detail.

The snow is set to continue here in the SouthWest for today and much of tomorrow.  Its not very deep as yet, save where the very strong winds have blown it into drifts.  I suspect that we might have as much as a whole 5cms by tomorrow evening. That is however a lot for us, the last time we had that much snow was in February 2013.  Hopefully there will be some photo opportunities tomorrow to make up for our cancelled plans.
