Winter is coming.....

Today we have been to the Wall....but we were not afraid.....well until we reached Housesteads and were told: we couldn’t go in to the Museum; we couldn’t go in to the hill fort; we went up to the Wall AT OUR OWN RISK and we might have to CLIMB OVER A GATE!!!

Crazy health and safety, but we were determined not to have our fun spoiled so we did walk up to the WALL and along it to Milecastle 37 without getting lost in a snow drift, falling over or having to fight White Walkers!

Vindolanda was much more satisfying and we have passed the afternoon in the indoor and outdoor museums and exploring the vast site of the fort and neighbouring village. It has certainly extended much further since our last visit and Tomas and Marketa were much taken with it.
