An ordinary life....

Snow Joke!

Backblip

What a day!

Came downstairs just after 7.30am and was delighted to see it was raining heavily and driveway was completely clear of snow.

Jordan had to leave at 9am and Christine texted me about two minutes after he left to say she was stuck on the M73 in heavy snow and would get to us as soon as she could.  I reassured her it was raining here then within 10 minutes the snow came on and in another 10 minutes the driveway was covered in snow again!

Thankfully Christine arrived half an hour later.  The snow stayed on so I texted Ele, Gail and Natalie, who were coming for lunch, to check how the weather was with them and to say I would understand if they wanted to cancel coming.  They all said the still planned to come and would just crash here if the weather worsened, which is probably indicative of how much we were looking forward to getting together.

By late morning the snow had stopped and it was turning slushy so I finished prepping the food for lunch.  Ele and Natalie arrived at 1pm as planned but Gail didn't get here till 1.30 as she'd popped into a shop on the way here then couldn't find her car key.  Bag emptied, jacket pockets emptied, steps retraced but still she couldn't find it.  Starting to panic slightly she patted her jeans pockets and to her complete surprise found them stashed in the waistband of her jeans!  She has no idea why she put them there!

We had a lovely lunch and a great catch up.  Natalie hasn't seen Lola since September when she was only about 12 weeks old so she saw a huge difference in her.  Lola took a real shine to her and poor Natalie was the one being kissed and licked and offered soggy toys.  Gail brought Lola a chew toy and was keen to give it to her.  Embarrassingly it took Lola less then three minutes to completely destroy it! (It was made of soft rubber so didn't stand a chance against her teefs!)  As I picked up the remnants of it to put in the bin, we all fell about laughing at Gail's astounded expression at how quickly the toy had met its demise.  We laughed all the harder as she stuttered "but it's from Marks and Spencers!" as though that should make it indestructible!

With all the chatting and coffee drinking the afternoon disappeared and suddenly it was 7.00pm.  Natalie and Gail headed home but Ele stayed for dinner.  Kenny is with David in Spain (it's Ele and Kenny's new holiday house they're staying at) so we shared the joys the sadness at being golf widows ;-)

Got a text from David.  He's having a lovely time but I've not to mention his golf.  Oh dear.  And his new extra comfy golf shoes (that's how he justified the cost to me) are hurting his feet.  I seem to remember "someone" asking him if it was wise to buy new golf shoes to wear just before four solid days of golf, but what do "they" know.  *rolls eyes*
