Pompidou Medley

Marylee and I went to the Pompidou Center this afternoon.  We visited two excellent expositions:  1) David Goldblatt's photographs of South Africa; I was in the show two days ago, and commented on it in that blip. 2) Sheila Hicks' textile art--three works appear in the main blip and the extra (I did not recruit the man with the matching red cloak on his lap). Hicks was born in Nebraska in 1934, but she has lived and worked in Paris since 1964.   We had not heard of Hicks, but we were impressed by the show, which was accompanied by an excellent video presentation of her approach and methods.  In the background of the main blip are colorful works in the Stravinsky Fountain next to the building; they are by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely
