Casa Andrich

We've had an amazing day on the island of Torchello today. The pattern for the day has been walk a bit, coffee, walk a liitle more, take a few photos, visit the churches, lunch, walk, Casa Andrich. The Byzantine mosaic on the west wall of the cathedral is still as incredible as ever and I managed a drawing of the lower left corner this year, though I didn't quite get it all on ( my page planning being very poor). They're still getting hot under the collar about photographs, though still not providing enough postcard views. We followed this visit up with a very good spaghetti lunch and then headed for Casa Andrich, which is a home and a museum dedicated to the work of Lucia Andrich, who was a university lecturer and an artist that embraced many different styles and materials. We were shown around by his nephew, who now lives in the house, and learnt about the some of the history of the island (as we stood in the rain looking over the lagoon). Followed by a tour of the house, and shown many of the artworks. It was an amazing way to learn about the artist and to view his artworks. Thoroughly recommended if you are visiting the island. You do need to know however that the gate to the property is locked and that Paulo will only appear at the gate a few minutes before your booked slot.

Our last evening tonight, and just a few hours in the morning before we fly back to the Manchester.
