A Head for Heights

Another giant of nature is being felled this morning- a tree that has stood in the Meadows for decades and has been a witness not only to my life in the area but that of my grandparents too. It may be completely taken down or it may be left with just it’s trunk to allow some regrowth.

This has been happening with some of the big trees around us and produces what appears to be an ugly totem pole with some feathery branches growing out of the crown. We have one of those right in front of the Dower House. With leaves on the new branches in the summer it is less ugly, but in winter it just looks silly.

Well the wind may have changed direction, but it is still cold and grey but without the Siberian bite. Feeling like 2° is hardly likely to induce me to remove my thermals or His Lordship his ‘long johns’
