Frampton Plantation, Beaufort, South Carolina

The road trip to Beaufort was very difficult.  Between the end of Spring Break (everyone returning home to start school again) and the Snow Birds  (people who reside in Florida or another state  that have to return home for Tax Time) were on the road.  I95 is usually a fast moving North/South corridor from Miami to Newfoundland, Canada.  Today, it was a parking lot. It took hours to go 20 miles.  It was a very difficult drive.
But......  the good part is I got here, safe and sound, meet up with Mary and Diane and started sight seeing.  Our first stop was the Frampton Plantation.  It was beautiful , under Live Oaks that were  maybe, 500 years old.  The plantation smelled wonderfully old and the boards creaked!  It was wonderful!  Diane made herself comfortable on the front porch while I looked at a piece of yard art that almost looked real (see extras).
Tonight after super, we walked through a historic part of Beaufort looking at some of the most beautiful old houses from the late 1700's to post civil war reconstruction.    Beaufort was fortunate to be spared the wrath of the Northern Yankees when all of the homes were used for hospitals (and not torched and burned to the ground).
Be sure to look at maryeliazr and dfb24 's blips to see more of the architecture, oak trees and grandeur of Southern Charm.
