Grim and grey on Portobello promenade

Jackie, Mr hazelh and I braved the cold this morning for a trip to Newhailes with our university friend Boyd and his family, who are currently on holiday in Edinburgh. We travelled part of the route by bus, then walked the rest of the way along Portobello Promenade and the main road. The promenade was almost deserted, most likely due to the unseasonal 'spring' weather: cold, damp, windy and miserable, as blipped. We were freezing!

While the rest of us enjoyed the guided tour of the National Trust for Scotland property at our final destination, Mr hazelh headed back home to prepare a lovely roast dinner for us all, plus Jon: soup; roast chicken with broccoli, squash, roast parsnips, mashed and roast potatoes, and pigs in blankets; lemon meringue pie; and Scottish cheese. This feast of comfort food warmed us all up nicely again.

Exercise today: walking (14,967 steps).
