The Lozarithm Lens

Caen Hill (Sunday 15th April 2018)

Both the weather and I reverted to type on Sunday, with the temperature dropping several degrees and the sky returning to its habitual grey and gloomy. I did my customary weekly major shop at Waitrose in Melksham, spending enough to use up a £5 voucher and also coming away with free Sunday papers and a courtesy cappuccino that I took to Caen Hill to drink.

Mr Swan was moving serenely across the canal in front of the Moorings while Mrs Swan sat patiently on her nest at Monument Lock (both in Extras). I've been following this pair for several years now but I don't know if they have been given names locally.

This pair of mallards were sitting next to Mrs Swan when I went past but later swam across to the other end of the Monument side pond, which is where I took this blip. It has been quite a long time since I last blipped a duck.

There was not a lot going on; no boats going through the lock flight, no herons lurking on the water's edge, no kingfishers, mink or otters in sight. After a walk round the block, drinking my coffee, I returned to Archie and drove home.
