Broch

Back blip

Just enough time for a short walk today. Drove over to Torwood and then parked up towards Glen Road before walking up to Torwood Castle.

When we we here with the Ramblers earlier this year, we couldn't go any further because of forestry work being carried out in Tor Wood itself. However the signs have now been removed (as far as I could see) and there were new shiny wooden signposts indicating the path up to the broch, sometimes called Torwood Broch, sometimes Tappoch Broch.

Some improvements to the path, some stretches of it which can be very muddy, had also been made but that was 'balanced out' by the muddy ditch traversing the route, created by large tractor tracks. Judging also by the stacks of cut logs elsewhere on the edge of Tor Wood, one suspects that the forestry work is still continuing.

However, I made it up to the broch, had a wander round, took a few photographs (blip tick) and followed the waymarked path back down through the woods towards the main track, once again picking my way gingerly across the swathe of mud and tractor tracks where they intersected the footpath. Maybe I'll try again in a few weeks, when our forestry worker friends have completed their endeavours.
