You can tell by the rather bizarrely shaped canopy that this machine is built for speed – sacrificing the pilot's view of the world for a lower profile and therefore lower form drag (also called zero-lift drag).

It's a Mew Gull and it was out sunning itself at Old Warden this afternoon as I returned home that way.  There was quite a brisk breeze up, but some of the old girls were out in the fresh air . . .

The extra shot is of a group of engineers enjoying the sun and yelling banter at each other.  The white overalls belie the amount of work that goes into maintaining the aircraft of the collection.
