Last Day

The last day aboard is quite depressing. It's not a day at all as they expect you out of your cabin by 8.30am and then off the ship by 1015am.
It's like they just don't care about you any more. So heartless!!
And you can't get a pre-breakfast breakfast.....
We made the most of our last breakfast in the Lido. As we forced down the last smoothies, pastries, omelettes, toast, sausages, hash browns and yoghurts we couldn't help wonder why everyone wants to get off the ship so early. They were streaming off!! It's like the people who leap to their feet the minute the plane stops. Why? Why? Why?!!!!!!!
After breakfast we had a lovely leisurely stroll around the ship, taking photos and making the most of every last second. When we got up to the Commodore Club there was an announcement letting passengers know that it was the last call to get off. Not even 10am yet!!
We carried on strolling until we eventually made our way to the Pursers Office. Mr K had left our Ship's Identity Cards (room keys!!) in his dinner jacket pocket last night and then packed it into the cases we put outside. You have to use them to be scanned off the ship so we had to go the Pursers Office to get new ones.
The we finally trudged our way to the gangplank, had our cards scanned and sadly disembarked.
There were two woman in hi-vis jackets at the other end of the zigzagging walkway who directed us down to the arrivals hall. We happened to turn back as we walked away and saw them both disappearing off into a lift. We realised we were the last passengers off the ship and that last call had probably been directed only at us!!!
This was confirmed when we got to the enormous luggage hall and saw at least twenty women in hi-vis jackets standing around our four suitcases (see extras). It was hilarious!!!
We were very apologetic to everyone waiting for us. It was only just after 10am so I couldn't believe we were the last!!
It was very easy to find our car in the carpark. It was only one left!!!
And as we packed our bags into the boot they opened the gates and let the people in who are going on the ship's next cruise.
Talk about jumping in your grave!!
Then it was on to the M3 and towards home.
I had to laugh at myself when we stopped at services for tea and the loo. I held my hands under the soap dispenser expecting it to automatically dole me out some soap. I stood there like a disgruntled princess, horrified at the thought that from now on I'd have to pump my own soap. Back down to earth with a bump!!
We called in on my mum and dad on the way through Bicester for a quick cup of tea and a chat. They're off on the Queen Victoria in a few weeks so it was nice - and galling!!! - to chat about it!
Then it was home to our Little Misses. This is the longest we've ever left them (only a week despite the Blips seemingly taking weeks and weeks to write!!) and it was soooooooooo good to see them.
I had a message from Miss E the other day saying how much she missed me and how it was much harder than she had been expecting. It made me sad that she was sad but also happy to know that she did actually miss me  and despite our frequent fallings out she prefers me being there to not!!
There were lots of cuddles when we got back and then they disappeared off upstairs as usual as if we'd just got back from popping to Tescos!
We had a cup of tea with Nanny and then, when she headed off, despite the pouring rain we ventured over to the park. It was chucking it down so we didn't stay long but it was nice to go out with the Little Misses.
We then spent the rest of the day wandering around wondering why there wasn't unlimited food to eat and people to bring us cocktails at every turn. Sigh.
And getting bags ready for school and uniforms ready. Uuuughhhhhh!!!!!!
