Alnwick

Alnwick was the focus of our attention today. The journey was uncluttered with traffic and the best part of the day was this morning.

I preferred to explore Alnwick gardens whilst Richard preferred the castle and its history. A guided trip round the Poison Gardens was both interesting and informative. The cherry blossom and under planted Daffodils were in their prime. In contrast the ones near the castle were quickly going over.

I particularly liked this hand crafted gateway to the gardens. A walk into the town allowed for a stop off at Barter Bookshop.....well how can you resist? However my best bargain was a beautifully illustrated Encyclopedia of Wild Flowers from the Lions bookshop for £1.
