The real thing…glacial erratics…that artist Julie Spiedel was referring to with her sculpture in a downtown Seattle canyon between amazon buildings.  blipped HERE - (the you tube does a good explanation)   The last glacier receded from here about 15000-12000 years ago leaving these rocky islands with huge boulders of basalt that are igneous rocks from lava flow cooled quickly—but not from here..they were brought here with the glaciers.   Most of the ocean floor is also basalt, a very common rock on this earth.  As the ice receded the land sprang up a little so the sea was a bit lower.    1st extra...the same rocks at high tide seen from the water later, in my boat.

Got my Whitehall rowing boat launched today!   Never got it out last summer due to broken wrist, alas,,… so I’m happy.   It is very fun, but a lot of trouble to get it in and out for the season.   Wheeled it to the barge landing for a wet launch and used the davits on the dock today..worked pretty well..   Extra shows we’re up to 5 boats on the dock..:-)…the grey float needs to come in soon…we’ll see if the otters leave it alone tonight…
