It’s a Winner

This is the first of the Perthshire strawberries His Lordship and I will consume over the summer. I am prejudiced of course, but I think the Scottish strawberries are the sweetest and best, certainly in comparison to the foreign ones which grace the shelves nearly all the year round. All I have to do now to make a cross cultural dessert is to get the Greek yoghurt out of the fridge and add a few more strawberries to my plate.

8° is hardly the stuff of heatwaves, but if the met office says we are hotter than the south of Europe then someone must be getting the heat, but it sure ain’t us on the east coast of the Northlands where the North Sea haar has little desire to retreat in the face of yet another day of cold east wind.
Anoraks and scarves are ‘de rigeur’ with the bevy of tourists wandering the streets. However the ‘cool conditions’ should favour the runners in tomorrow’s Marathon, unless they develop hypothermia as they run down the coast into the wind.
