Village fireworks

After the big Guy Fawkes celebrations in Hexham yesterday, we had our own village bonfire and fireworks in Humshaugh tonight. It's been a very cold day and the frost had not cleared so the autumn leaves were very slippery on the walk to the village field.

Here the bonfire was already blazing, soup was being dispensed and families with excited children were gathering. I set tripod up at one side of the field and hoped it was the best place. In reality I was a bit close to get the whole picture and I had to do a lot of adjusting of settings.

I've chosen this image because it reminds me of the fronds of an exotic plant.

Back home in good time before Downton Abbey.
