A view from Jeanneb

Wildlife encounter.

Just had to record this moment on blip even though this hand held shot isn't brilliant.

We walked up onto the edge of the Moor, encountering friends M and his wife Rose54 who were doing the same walk but the other way around.

Crossing back onto Altar Lane and into the St. Ives woods we were heading for a nest that Wilsden Walker had discovered. She soon found it again as the youngsters were making quite a racket. We stood around for 15 a 20 minutes with the two adults in the canopy overhead for some of the time before they returned to the nest with a mouthful of insects. We were quiet and Buster the dog was being very good but others passing, especially with noisy dogs were putting them off going into the nest. Patience paid off in the end when we saw this one delivering it's bounty.

It started to rain whilst we were waiting so we took the most sheltered route back to the village through the woods. My neighbour D had her binoculars with her and she was able to show us where the Heronry is. I knew it was there but not the exact location. Through the binoculars we could see 4 heron in the tops of the trees.
Despite the war on Rhododenrons as they are spreading disease it can't be denied that they look great in the Estate woods at the moment.

A great 5.5 mile Saturday meander with wonderful wildlife rewards.
Thank you again for putting my swan family on P1 of popular

(Think you will see similar blips from Wilsden Walker and Corinthian Column today!)
