Life in Sunny Dubai

More Ramadan Decs

Where do I start with today?

The morning was spent organising a hire car which in Dubai is much more tricky than trying to do the same in the UK. There are loads of providers online who lure you onto their website promising a cheap daily rate, only to be told that rate is when you rent for a month, or all the budget cars are sold out. It would appear there is a lot of demand for monthly rentals here.

Anyway, long story short and several phone calls and live chats later, I secured a car! The next thing was to get it. For some reason, despite having branches in town close to me, I was asked to travel to the provider's depot in an industrial area, so we got an Uber. I was really dubious of the route the driver took, but he actually got us there very quickly, and thanks to a promotion, we got a discount!

We have got a 2018 Mazda 3 for the next four days. I am hoping the Volvo or Peugeot, or both are back home by then! G & I both had to admit it was nice being in a new car with all mod cons. I have never driven a car for which you have to press a button to start or stop it!
I dropped G off to Awana and had two hours to browse Virgin Mega Store with the view of spending a £50 gift voucher given by a very generous friend for my birthday! I honestly do not need anything and struggled to think of things to look at in the store. CDs are so overpriced here (as are most other things), it's not worth buying them.

So, my blip is from the Virgin side of the Mall, the opposite view to what I normally post from here. Now that church has moved to Jebel Ali, we hardly ever visit this Mall, so it was great to have the opportunity to capture their Ramadan decorations.
