Hythe Ossuary

I have a strong enough mobile signal this evening to use a tethered link to my phone wifi - progress,

We have wandered around a bit today, starting with a completely random stop to view a monument and the local church tucked away behind a farm.  Then onto the delightful town of Hythe with the prime aim of viewing the strange Ossuary in St Leonard's Church (thank you to Merlot's Dad for letting me know about that}.  It is a strange collection of over 1,000 skulls and a single stack of bones all representing the remains of around 2,000 people.  However, there is no known reason for the collection or source of the bones.  The church of St Leonard's is huge and worth a viewing in its own right, with an enormous organ; we were fortunate in that the organist came along for a practice session so we listened to a mini recital.

After that it was onwards to look at a land slippage (the joys of being married to a civil engineer) and then to our campsite for tonight.  We are favouring the smaller sites as we only need the electric hookup, water source and waste disposal (of all sorts).  We are amazed at how quickly we have adjusted to the lifestyle.

We had an amusing incident in Hythe when Pepper ended up in the canal - she mistook a load of leaves floating on the surface for solid ground - it wasn't and she went straight through - John fished her out and, apart from being rather soggy, she was fine! Extra attached of a rather soggy doggy!
