Over the Vale of Evesham

A good walk from Broadway to the Broadway Tower up the scarp slope of the Cotswold Hills. Today’s blip was taken just below the summit ridge looking west over Bredon Hill, the Vale of Evesham, the Severn Valley, the Malvern Hills and beyond.

As a geography student at Worcester College in the ‘70 training to be a teacher we spent many happy hours measuring slopes on Bredon Hill and recording soil creep on the steep western slopes of this Cotswolds outlier.

Great views from the Tower which has an interesting history since it was built as a folly at the end of the 18th century. Later occupants included William Morris and the Royal Observer Corps.

Superb views on the way back to Broadway and some interesting, large properties tucked away in the woods.

Back for a barbecue and evening meal alfresco with the swifts screaming overhead and a chaffinch singing his heart out from next door’s aerial.
