Life in Sunny Dubai

New Road

It's been a non-stop day until we got home. I dropped G off first thing, then drove to the other side of town to have the car checked at the garage. The orange light has been dealt with but I've been asked to come back tomorrow morning so the engine can be properly checked for why it is misfiring.

I picked G up and we had a few minutes to kill, so popped into The Mall (my extra). It was quiet there but things are definitely changing. Two new restaurants opening soon, and they're going to have a Community Theatre which I think will work very well especially since they have a really good music shop in the mall.

There was enough time to have a quick (shawarma) lunch before we met up with Patrick. Now that Ramadan is over, we returned to our usual venue in Costa. We have signed an Agreement to work together which is great. It formalises things. It was good to be able to have time to just chat about anything and everything.

We tried to catch the football matches on the cable channel which is supposed to be showing them (but isn't). I ended up connecting my laptop to the TV with a cable(!!) thanks to a multi-adaptor carried back by Miriam. At least the streaming with a VPN is working although the picture quality is poor. In between, we put on a DVD of The King & I. It was great to watch the original and hear the music of Rogers and Hammerstein!

Forgot to mention in yesterday's blip, I had a call from Volvo. The a/c repair isn't major, in fact, it is inexpensive and easy and they even have the part. The only problem is that a 26-year-old car needs a refrigerant that isn't sold anymore, so they're trying to source a supplier for R12.

My blip is of some workmen transporting very heavy blocks on their trolley. A new road has opened up which connects Happiness Street to MBR Boulevard. We had time to check it out today. It brings you up a ramp and gives spectacular views of Burj Khalifa.
