Poppies: Wave

I have a poppy from the 2014 sculpture by Paul Cummins at the Tower of London, but never had the chance to see them.  Since then two sculptures inspired by the original installation have been on tour, and Fort Nelson in Portsmouth is the final venue to host the Wave scuplture before being gifted to the Imperial War Museum.

It's been a gloriously sunny day with blue, almost cloudless, skies which showed off the poppies to their best.  The sight was also rather poignant surrounded by the weapons of war in the form of large canon and guns; Fort Nelson is one of the Victorian forts built to protect Portsmouth from the Napoleonic Army in an invasion which fortunately never took place. So I have chosen an abstract view which sort of reminded me of the barbed wire views you see in picture of men "going over the top".  Views of the whole sculpture can be found in the extras.
