The Scallywags

These two are peas in a pod.
If those peas are crazy, giggling, energetic, bouncy loons!!!
It's that time of year again - Miss K and I have come up to the Lake District for the Great North Swim.
A few months ago when I got the email about booking it mentioned a new junior event for kids over eight.
So we booked Miss M and Miss E for the junior 250m.
Mr K would take care of Miss L and Miss A while the rest of us were swimming.
All sorted.
Until I got a call last weekend asking if Miss E would like to go to Miss M's tonight for a sleepover and then out for pizza tomorrow.
Ordinarily I'd say she couldn't as we have plans already but it's Miss M, Miss E's best friend in all the world who she still misses dearly.
So I gave Miss E the choice of what to do. She was torn - so looking forward to the swim but so wanted to see Miss M! What a horrible decision for her!!
In the end she chose the sleepover. As I thought she would.
So it just me and Miss L off on our travels this morning.
We went over to Miss K's first thing and met the lovely Mrs S and her daughter Miss O who are also doing the swim. Miss K wasn't back from picking them up when we first got there and Miss L was quite perturbed that we let ourselves in to the empty house and made a cup of tea. Funny what bothers them!!
Then we were off. Miss A came in our car with us and they were giddy to be off on their adventures. First of all there was much singing - the entire Greatest Showman soundtrack followed by various hits from Little Mix, Taylor Swift, Rhianna, Adele and Jessie J.
Before we knew it we were at our favourite Hopwood Park Services on the M42. They loved it there as usual!!!! See extras for their first photo booth photo (I'm too stingy to pay £6 for actual photo booth photos!!)
We all met up and sat outside to eat our lunch. Some of us stuffed our faces with sausage rolls, crisps, cocktail sausages, yogurt and falafel. I had a healthy quinoa salad. Polishes halo!!
Then it was back on the road for the seemingly endless roadworks on the M6 and the long, slow journey to Lancaster. In keeping with tradition we booked a Travelodge on the M6 for the night. This time we're trying the one at Lancaster Services. You'd think it was a Disney theme hotel if Miss L and Miss A's excitement was anything to go by!! See extras.
Much as we love motorway service stations we thought it would be nice to head into Lancaster for a look round and something to eat.
We had a walk up to the castle and then back to Bella Italia for dinner. I had a virtuous chicken breast on lentil and mushroom ragu. Very tasty!!
Then it was back to the hotel for some crazy bed bouncing and gymnastics. Princesses A and L had the double bed while Miss K and I made do with a titchy single camp each!!
