Hanbury Hall

We had a fabulous day out today at Hanbury Hall near Worcester. It's Nanny's birthday on Wednesday so we met her today for a birthday outing.
I wasn't that fussed before we got there - I have a bit of a mental block about the seventeenth century!! - but I loved it!!!!
The house was lovely inside - lots of interesting things! Including a glass chess set which Miss L was very taken with. See extras. We had a lengthy game which followed our usual pattern of taking everything until no-one could win. It's like we're Grand Masters!!
We had a scrummy lunch in the old servant's hall and then went out into the amazing gardens. Ornamental vegetable gardens, orchards, lily ponds, a hard to find but impressive ice house, a fabulous orangery - full of oranges and lemons and, most Victorian of all, a mushroom house on the back of the south facing orangery. Genius!!
After our walk we sat out in the courtyard garden by the old stables for cake, tea and ice cream, bought books in the second hand shop and plants from the plant centre.
Then it was time to go. Amongst the last to leave as ever!!
