Life in Sunny Dubai

Making history

Wow. SO PLEASED to watch this game on a big screen, on the QE2 with other England fans. The atmosphere in the Pavilion is much nicer than the (boring old/sedate) Golden Lion Pub. The first difference is they have a live DJ and it was great to hear some old football songs (World in Motion and Three Lions to name a couple).

We were given bean bags to sit on right up front but the angle to watch was awful (see the pics of the screen), so twenty minutes into the match, we moved to some proper seats at the back where we got a more central view. And what a match it was. England didn't let their fans down and they also made World Cup history for themselves in Nizhny Novgorod. (I'm learning Cyrillic thanks to FIFA2018!)

Six goals - the most ever for them in their WC history; Harry Kane is now the highest scoring player in this tournament etc. etc. It was good they allowed Panama a goal so they too can have a record for this match. First time ever that they've scored in the World Cup. There you go... I'm sure there could have been more than the six goals for England but who knows.

The rest of the day was pretty quiet. I might have eaten too many different things yesterday and was up a lot of the night, so went to bed before 9pm, hence the late blip.
