On Reflection.....

With the insouciance of a blipper of nine years standing, I ignored the crowds gathering for the arrival of the Queen and Prince Philip for the annual Order of the Thistle service at St Giles. Accompanied by His Lordship, we were walking into town , making our way through the throng for some food shopping and the obligatory restorative coffee at the Ivy. I am in no doubt I missed a worthy blip, but at what cost to patience, heat, tourists and blood pressure?

There will in any case be a photograph of the ermine robes of the Royals and the feathered hats of the Queen’s bodyguard, the Royal Company of Archers, on the news tonight, but there will only be one photograph of building reflections in St Andrew Square or of HL with a shirt picking up the blue of the flowers behind him.

Another beautiful day with the summer beginning to resemble that of 1976 for those of you who are old enough to remember.
