A broken land

Much of New Zealand (Aotearoa) was formed from volcanic activity mixed with movement from plate tectonics creating upsurgings of raw mountains, surrounded by the seas which encircle our land. Although we think of ourselves as being on an island, we also unconsciously consider the "real islands" to be the smaller islands scattered around the coast of each of the two main islands.

There is nothing representative about the chunks within the blue on the painted utility box I saw in Newmarket as I rode from the hospital to the Nissan franchise where I was to collect the car after its first service.

It may be more usual to see this picture as being of clouds and sky. However, I see it as broken off pieces of land i.e. islands, lying in a blue sea.
