Life's Little Moments

Flying

Think of the happiest things
It's the same as having wings
Take the path that moonbeams make
If the moon is still awake
You'll see him wink his eye
You can fly! You can fly! You can fly! - Peter Pan, Walt Disney

Not a lot of time for photography today, but long enough to get a tiny little syrphidae (Hoverfly) in flight in the garden.  The hardest part of this shot is just getting the autofocus to lock on the insect instead of the plants behind it.  As their name implies, hoverflies tend to ...well, hover.  Which makes them fairly easy once you get over the focus issues.

Had to chase down some things for my MIL this morning and then went to sit with her at lunch.  I was able to get her to eat a little but certainly not very much.  A shame, as the cook had prepared a lovely shrimp scampi which looked and smelled delicious.  Got her to drink juice and water, though, and that is one in the "win" column.  And she devoured her sugar free ice cream!

My neighbors brought their two adorable granddaughters over for a bug-safari in our yard/garden this afternoon.  Such inquisitive little minds, and not the least bit afraid of the things we saw.  They both had their magnifying glasses to get up-close looks at tiny spiders, caterpillars, planthoppers, and a host of other tiny things.  It was a delightful way to spend part of the afternoon - just exactly what I needed.

Hubs should be home in about a half hour - it will be so good to have him home.  And now, I'm flying off into the weekend!
