Bastille Day

A picture of a German car on Bastille Day. Not quite the most appropriate so I've added a 2cv as an extra. Anyway, this french gent was very happy to have a chat about the beautiful 1950 Merc he had restored from a wreck. When he could see I was genuinely interested ( I love an old Merc) he produced this album of the restoration project. 

Its a diesel so unusual for its age. I hate to think how clean the engine emissions can be. I suppose he had to get it updated to comply.

I asked him to look proud but he seemed only able to stand ramrod straight when I wanted him to lean casually on the wing with a Gauloise in the corner of his mouth.
