Wheels

Headed up with Samantha on four wheels (two each) to see the Wheel only to discover the place was shut for its annual maintenance. Couldn't get into any good spot outdoors for a photo without barriers or JCBs getting in the road, so headed indoors to grab a coffee and an angle.

The one solitary maintenance guy that we could see was at the top of the cherry picker there, using the tiniest of rollers to re-paint the structure. At that rate it'll be months before it's all done. And it'll still be grey.

We took the bikes further up the hill and through the woods to the Antonine Wall and the Roman Camp nearby, which was nice and muddy and bloody good fun. Well, I thought it was bloody good fun at least; soggy arsed Samantha wasn't so enamoured at that bit or the fact she had to sit on a towel all the way home.
