A beach day...

Not what we had planned. I had no sleep last night worrying about so many things, and was awake at 6. It was clear it was going to be a lovely sunny day, and I have spent much of today trying to find positives, to out way the bad news, which we had confirmed once we'd got the car looked at.

So, good news:
1. A lovely sunny day
2. A beautiful beach in Newquay minutes from the brakes garage.
3. No parking fee (car was at garage all day)
We needed various brake type repairs. £700. That is double the cost of the holiday. So a pretty s**t end to the holiday for us. We had planned to go to Bodmin today. We will go tomorrow but also want to go back to Tintagel which was our original plan for tomorrow.

More positives needed. We had a really lovely day relaxing on the beach. It is actually raining now - another positive. We've packed up a lot of our stuff in the caravan, and will leave early Sunday morning and hope to be home Sunday night. It it's dry tomorrow during the day we will take the awning down and Henry can sleep inside Saturday night. My main worry is getting my giant canna plants home without getting broken. I've put two in the cool box!

This was Henry at the end of the day....he needed some shade. I wish I'd got a photo of a group of school girls in their uniforms (white shirt and black skirts) who appeared on the beach at about 3.30, and all ran into the sea together (fully clothed!). They proceeded to enjoy the sea and celebrate their last day of school (their shirts were written on so I guess they were leaving primary school) while jumping the waves, and their parents were knee deep taking photos. What a lovely memorable way for them to end school. I was the only one of the three of us who ventured into the sea. It was full of jelly fish.

We had taken a rushed packed lunch and spent 5 hours on the beach. It was actually a really nice day (apart from the shocking bill).

Last positive. We have a car which will get us home safely. You can't put a price on that.
