Juvenile Starling

Rachel and Scott left at about 9.30am as it's a couple of hours drive to Anglesey and the wedding was at 1pm and not long after they left, we went out too.

We took the girls to Crosby beach which is famous for Anthony Gormley's 'Another Place'.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't great, but the girls enjoyed collecting shells on the beach and Scarlett in particular was very interested in watching a guy digging for lug worms - she even asked him if she could have a go!  Of course she couldn't, but it's nice to see how much her confidence has grown after just a year at school.

We showed the girls the Anthony Gormley statues, and Violet giggled and said 'he's got a willy' lol!  There were lots of big jelly fish on the beach so they were very interested in them too, but we kept well away!

We took their scooters with us, so once we'd been on the beach we let them scoot along the promenade and then we sat and had a picnic.  There were lots of starlings that were on the change, from fledglings to adults and it was interesting to see their brown feathers changing into the adult colours.

It was difficult to take photos today as we've been busy occupying the girls, and although I took some on the beach, there was nothing that was particularly good, but Scarlett asked me to take a photo of one of the birds, and I chose this as my blip as it shows how it's starting to get the adult plumage.

On the way home we stopped off at a farm that has Alpacas and which also has a garden centre, farm shop and cafe.  We sat on the terrace of the cafe which overlooks the fields where the Alpacas are kept.  Unfortunately you cant get very close, but it was still nice to see them.  Tonight we've been for an early dinner at The Skymaster Pub and Alan's mum came too.

The girls have been really good and even went to bed without any trouble, albeit they went a bit later than normal, but so far so good, it's 11.15pm and we've not heard a peep from them.  Anyway, we'll be up early in the morning so I'm now going to go to bed too and will keep my fingers crossed that no-one wakes up.
