Croyde Bay

Annoyingly my left knee has decided to play up, so rather than walk we drove to Croyde Bay. As did, it seems, most of north Devon. Happily the National Trust car park had spaces for Members, and we spent some time amidst the thronging sunburnt.

It was fun, sitting in a tea room noshing down on a couple of cream teas, listening to four ladies opposite, already planning next year’s curriculum. I looked at Janet. She looked at me. There might have been a quiet smile. I remember when she had that crazed look, it may be the holidays but soon it will be new term...!

The sea was warm enough to swim in, although bravely we didn’t. But only in Mexico or Egypt has it ever felt this warm, certainly not in the UK in July... lovely, but what if it never stops? What if next year is even hotter?
