Desperately seeking

A night In The Palace (1) Dufton Ghyll

Last month we bought a caravan, a Compass Kensington, and have been looking forward to having a few nights out in it.

We had also bought a second-hand awning which the caravan dealer and his wife had "put it up without killing each other and there were a few spare poles!" So we thought we'd better go somewhere nearby and give it a try.

The Man did the research and came up with a site near Appleby and we chose the only wet hour in months to faff around hitching up. We got soaked!

Well, the little Caravan Club site was lovely, just 5 of us on a working farm with glorious views over the Pennines. We stopped admiring the view, we had work to do. So, if there was a wrong place to put an awning pole, we put it. If there was a wrong place to put an awning panel, we put it: front in side, left in right......

This was why we came!

The awning got pitched very nicely, used, but good strong quality, not the rip-stop nylon sort. This is something which, by the end of this season, we may be using for our Art By Camera photography shows instead of the heavy marquee we currently use.

In the evening we took a walk in Dufton Ghyll before putting our feet up with a drink. The caravan is lovely! It has an end washroom and wardrobes so the main room is more spacious. Loving it, and tomorrow we have a mini blipmeet!
