Markfield Quarry

Mary's climbed here before, so was surprised to see that there'd been a wild fire since her last visit - see the first extra, leaving most of the gorse dead.  You may think that's a good thing, but it's not as dead gorse prickles break off really easily and stay stuck in you!

We did two routes each on Betty's Slab - second extra, and Mary was on fire herself, leading two Severes... which I struggled to second but managed eventually without resting on the rope. I definitely need to re-read Mastermind!

We prefer different rock, Mary and I, she likes quarries more than I do and she's good on fingery routes as her hands and fingers are much stronger than mine, but it's good to climb on all sorts :-)
