Chanson française

We started the evening in our friend M's garden/field in Ferrals, which he had lent to the Mairie for a village fête. It was a lovely spot for it. Vignerons served wine, there were plates of cheese and charcuterie available, a band playing, and dancing (see second extra). We met various people we know while chatting, nibbling, and drinking wine. We left early though, in order to get home in time to see the evening's concert. Given how windy it was, we were a) surprised Bruno had chosen to perform outdoors and b) thoughtful enough to grab some warm clothes from home. Which were definitely needed once it got dark. The audience was small but robust; we all huddled together wrapped in blankets or fleeces till 11:30.

Bruno Perren is a regular, usually as part of a traditional jazz band, but he also writes and performs his own material, and that's what he was doing this evening, along with pianist Marc Hévéa (playing the accordion here). He mixed in a few old favourites from Trenet, Brassens, Boby Lapointe, and Claude Nougaro. Chanson française is not by any means my favourite genre, but Bruno has a lovely voice and Marc's arrangements and playing were excellent, so it was no hardship to stay till the end. I wasn't satisfied with any of my photos (perhaps I was shivering too much!) but chose this as I've already blipped Bruno. A pic of them both in extras.
