Peacock Families

We awoke to rain.  There was no early morning golf and BB was disappointed.  He had got up and got himself ready, but he went back to bed.  I decided not to run, and also went back to bed.  We had a quiet morning, ever hopeful that it would brighten up.  It didn’t, so we headed out and drove up to Lochranza and round to the other side of the island, where it was still grey and damp, but definitely brighter.

We decided we would go to Brodick Castle, only to find out it is closed for refurbishment!  We made a hasty decision to relocate to the Heritage Museum.  The lady at the desk gave BB a quiz.  He wasn’t too enamoured with this, but we did it together and learned about things we might not have looked at otherwise.  The café was busy, but we managed to squeeze in for a  late lunch.

We then drove back to the Castel and decided to go for  walk in the rain anyway.  After a couple of false starts to paths being closed we eventually walked up the side of the gorge by the Merkland Burn.  It was made more impressive by the burn being full due to the rain.  To be honest walking at height above water is not my favourite past time, but it was good to see the water tumbling/rushing down the rocks.  We didn’t get too drookit, but headed home for a  quick change before we all went out for a  lovely meal in Lochranza.

On our drive round the island we spotted these peacocks.  The extra shows a wee damp squirrel.
