Remembering

The sun, today, early and late, caressed rather than assaulted, so we walked at both ends, much to Lula's delight.

In the afternoon, we walked by the  jetty below Monsaraz, where we first swam in the Alqueva, over two years ago. And first looked up and saw that perfect castle on the hill above us. Little did we know that we would be living beside that Lake, on a plot of Land with a view of that castle, and with our own castle (rather more dilapidated) almost in the back yard. At the time, we thought we were going to be living over the other side of the Alentejo, in Grândola.

We've walked round the abandoned farm in the foreground, such a shame, it looks a wonderful place to live. Today, only a flock of sheep grazing, with their attendant rafeiro dog. And the bright green grass, where the water has receded.

The same view, but with an utterly different meaning for us now.
